Vern heet Ver-n, op z’n Nederlands uitgesproken, met een V, niet met een F. Het komt van Vernon, wat in het frans “Els” betekent (de boom) en in het latijn “jeudig” of “als de lente”. In de negentiende eeuw was Vern een populaire naam in de USA, nu niet meer. In Nederland komt de naam bijna niet voor, dit jaar is Vern de eerste (volgens de Spaarbeleg babynamen site althans). We weten zelf niet meer zeker hoe we op de naam zijn gekomen. Was het van Kverneland of toch van Jules Verne? Volgens de numerologie van de Kabalarians staat Vern voor het volgende:
